Screen and Recoat vs. Full Refinishing

Not every worn floor needs a full sand. We evaluate the finish and the wood underneath before recommending either option.

Screen and recoat

Do I need to move out during hardwood floor refinishing?

Most homeowners stay in the house during refinishing with Aspen Floor & Home Services, because dustless sanding equipment keeps dust contained to the work area. Families with young children or respiratory concerns sometimes prefer to stay elsewhere during the sanding and staining days.

What is the difference between screen and recoat and full refinishing?

Screen and recoat lightly abrades the existing finish and adds a new topcoat, used when the wood is in good condition. Full refinishing sands down to bare wood and is used for deep scratches, water damage, gaps or a color change. Aspen Floor & Home Services recommends one over the other after an on-site inspection.

Can Aspen match the stain color of my existing hardwood floor?

Yes. Aspen Floor & Home Services tests stain samples on the actual floor before a full application, then blends the new finish into the surrounding wood. This is used most often for partial refinishing, repairs and room additions where only part of the floor is being redone.

Does dustless refinishing really eliminate the dust?

Dustless sanding equipment captures 99% of dust at the source through a sealed containment system. It does not eliminate 100% of dust from every part of a project, such as edge work near baseboards, but it keeps dust off cabinets, vents and furniture far more effectively than standard sanding.
